Post Game Report - Game 5

Melville entered the evening with a chance to go atop the division with two wins against Galleria hailing from Merrick. Conditions yet again played a factor as a forecast of rain mixed with a sand infield and fenceless outfield posed a real test for Melville's developing defense.

Pitcher Michael Barbarino continued a strong start to his season on the mound starting off the night with 4 consecutive shutouts with a handfull of strikeouts mixed in. David Marmann broke out in a big way going 3-4 in this contest with a crucial home run to stretch out Melville's 5th inning lead. Being up 9 was the best the Moby Dicks could muster as the weather killed plenty of balls off the bat and the knockout mercy punch would never come.

Despite the shortcomings, Melville continued to show signs of being a real class outfit this season as one could argue they were not particularly playing their best, however they found ways to win and preserve a lead against a respectable opponent and went into the second game of the series in first place with a 13-8.
