Post Game Report - Game 3
Melville continued their winning ways with a classy victory in Game 1 of the series against a small yet impressive and powerful Pirates squad. The Moby Dicks yet again found themselves in another back and forth match up that required their third come from behind victory of the season.
David Marmann and Michael Barbarino's 2 run homers a piece tied the first inning at 4 until the pirates quickly regained the lead with a 6 run second. Melville would regain the lead with an 8 run 3rd, with Taufman and Barbarino collecting the big hits in the frame.
As the game picked up so did the rain. With solid defense and footing hard to come by, star Shortstop David Marmann made an array of electric web gems, including a missile off the relay to cut down a crucial run at home, and ending a shaking 5th inning climbing the ladder for a dazzling leaping catch.
Then came the 7th. Down by 2 as the home team, Barbarino and Diasparra would bring the tying run to the plate with back to back walks. The next two batters would just miss the barrel on unfortunate fly outs to bring Trevor Cavanagh to the dish. Already 2-2 on the night with a full count, something had to give and it certainly broke in Melville's favor. Trevor launched an absolute no doubter high and deep through the rain over everyone crowding the left field gap and was mobbed at first base before the ball had even landed. This was significant as it was Melville's first walk off home run in club history, and gave them a record win streak of 3 as well.
