Post Game Report - Game 10

A thrilling first game to the series would unfortunately not be followed up with the same excitement for neutral fans in the second installment as Melville would cruise to a quick four inning mercy rule victory.

After putting up a goose egg in the bottom half of the opening frame, Melville would enter the bottom of the second down 3-0 with scalding hot Nick Caracappa to lead off the inning. He would hit a laser home run deep to the right field fence that didn't just plate the first run, but served as the genesis of a thirteen run onslaught, the second most Melville would post so far this season. Caracappa would step to the plate with a man on and just one out later in that same inning to become the first Moby Dick to hit two home runs in the same inning!

A two run response by the Screwballs in the next half inning would take them out of mercy territory, but the Perticone brothers quickly put an end to that. Both Mike and Joe would homer in the inning to put Melville up by twelve and needing three outs in the top of the fourth to seal off their third mercy rule victory of the season.

Barbarino would give up a lead off solo shot to preserve the game for the Screwballs, however that was all they would get as Melville stepped up in the bottom of the fourth needing just one run to walk it off. Star of the night, Nick Caracappa would lead off the frame with a shot hit so hard up the middle, neither of the two centerfielders could cut it off before the fence leading to a double. two batters later Dan Miele stepped up already swinging a hot bat, poked a clean base hit into the outfield sending home Caracappa for a walk off mercy rule victory.

Melville exited the evening with a league best 9-1 record, currently sitting first in total offense with 185 runs scores, second in total defense with 114 runs allowed (second to the screwballs with 90) thus equating to another league best stat with a run differential of 71.
