Post Game Report - Game 1

After a highly active offseason which saw many exciting acquisitions, the Melville Moby Dicks kicked off the 2026 Spring season in style with a come from behind 18-16 victory over familiar foes in the Wolfpack.

Rust was visible defensively in the early stages of this game, seeing Melville trail 12-2 after 2 innings. However, this would begin the represent the tone of the evening for the Dicks as they rallied on both sides of the ball. The 10-run deficit quickly became 4 after Trevor Cavanagh's 2-run bomb in the 4th, which was held up by back to back clean innings ended by 6-4-3 double plays.

Entering the top of the 7th as the road team trailing by three, Captain Michael Barbarino hit an opposite field inside-the-park 2 run home run which activated a bench ready to pop all night. The excitement would boil over when Anthony Diasparra would go back to back with a laser over the fence in the deepest part of the yard to take a late lead. Eric Tow would hit a 2 run shot of his own later in the inning to provide necessary insurance as the Moby Dick defense would bend but not break in the bottom half to make a 2 run lead stand up as Barbarino struck out the final batter to earn the clubs first victory of the 2026 season.
